Simultaneous Equations

Let's get warmed up!
Warm up your brain by reviewing your ability to solve equations (and improve your basketball skills :) with the this game.

What are "Simultaneous Equations"?
The word "Simultaneous" means at the same time, so simultaneous equations mean that we are solving equations with two (or more) unknowns (e.g. values of x and y) in one problem.

Example 1.   Solve simultaneously for x and y:
x + y = 10
xy = 2
This means that we must find values of x and y that will solve both equations.  We must find two numbers whose sum is 10 and whose difference is 2.
The two numbers, obviously, are 6 and 4:
6 + 4 = 10
6 − 4 = 2
so the values:  x = 4 & y = 2 can be used to solve both equations at the same time (simultaneously)
